Good Morning or Good Afternoon My name is Park Junha The topic of today's presentation is the metaphors in the songs.
Before we go any further, we need to know about metaphors.
A metaphor is an analogy between two objects or ideas, conveyed by using a word instead of another word.
Let's get to the point. Which song is the metaphor?
There are a lot of songs, but if I have to pick one, I think Kanye West's song, "No More Parties in LA" is appropriate to explain.
There are three metaphors in the song "No More Parties in LA." It consists of the first sentence, "I feel like Pablo when I see me on the news," the second sentence,
"I feel like Pablo when I see me on the news," and the third sentence, "I feel like Pablo when I'm working in' on my house."
First, to interpret the first sentence, there's a character named 'Pablo'.
The Pablo mentioned is 'Pablo Picasso'. If you look at Kanye West's lyrics, there's a phrase that says that you work on shoes,
which means that you make a work like him through your own unique and outstanding artistry like 'Pablo Picasso'.
This includes not only shoes, but also his singing work and his singing work. That's why he likened himself to being 'Pablo Picasso'.
The second lyric also mentions the name 'Pablo'
But it has a different meaning from Pablo, which is called 'Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria'.
'Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria' is the founder and drug king of medellin cartel. The reason he chose this metaphor is because
Like'Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria', it means that he has the same tremendous influence, or that Kanye West himself is
going through a period of confusion, but the most likely reason is that he has the self-critical thinking that he thinks of himself as a criminal.
The last mentioned 'Pablo' means 'Paul', the apostle of Jesus.
Kanye West is more religious than anyone else. He writes about his thoughts and respect for God, as is natural in his albums and lyrics.
He expressed himself as Paul by combining the commonalities between himself and Paul.
This is the metaphorical representation of Kanye West's song No More Parties In LA.
Thank you for listening to my presentation. I'd like to sum it up.
